Oil Change
121,282 km
Finally another oil change. Really due. Last done June 2019 when at 117,067 km, so I’ve put on 4,215 km or 2,619 miles. Not a lot of mileage but it’s four years. The oil was pretty dark. Let’s not wait multiple years to change the oil..
Used Shell Rotella T6 5W40 Full Synthetic Oil. ~3.8L
Toyota filter 90915-YZZF1 and drain plug gasket 90430-12031.
Oil filter hand tightened, drain plug ratcheted lightly until stopped. Then turn a _tiny_ bit more.
I couldn’t remember how I put the car on four jack stands the first (and only) time I did this. At least I thought that I used four stands. Here’s what I did this time:
- Hydraulic jack on drivers rear pinch weld. Lift whole side. Place stand on drivers front pinch weld. Dropy Hydraulic jack.
- Hydraulic jack on cross member. Jack up enough to place stand on drivers rear pinch weld.
- MR2 scissors jack on passenger front pinch weld. Jack up to level front end.
- Hydraulic jack on cross member. Raise until enough to place stand on passenger rear pinch weld. Lower hydraulic jack until only on stands & scissors jack. Check all points. Raise hydraulic jack until it touches cross member for backup.
Removing the underbody panel took longer than I remember. Lots of cracks around the bolt holes. And I’m missing an underbody panel!
Let’s do this again next year.
