New Rims..
I pulled the trigger on a new set of 17” staggered rims! This is only the second set of aftermarket wheels for the MR2 in 24 years! (25 in October).

17x9 +42 rear fitment
5x114.3 of course, 73 hub.
8’s are 19.8lbs, 9’s are 19.4lbs on my scale. Yes, the 8’s are heavier.
The eBay user is WheelBay but I found out they’re 18racing.com. Shipping was Fast! I ordered them on March 21 and they arrived at Pacific Mail & Parcel on the 23rd! I picked them up on the 24th.
Looking forward to seeing them mounted.
One Option?
I just checked www.tirerack.com for the current selection of 16” summer tires for my current wheel setup. The Toyo Proxes R1R is the ONLY option that came up. For ALL tire categories. Wow.
What happened? I thought I’d have at least a Yokohama S.Drive or Dunlop DIrezza option.
Just out of curiosity, I searched the stock tire sizes of:
195/60R14 91/92
205/60R14
195/55R15 93+
225/50R15
and this came up:
It must be time for 17” wheels…
