Mugen strut bar

I bought this strut bar from a local fitfreak.net user back in September 2012.  It’s been sitting in my living room all this time.  I finally, decided to install it today.

This is purely an esthetic mod to dress up the engine bay with something cool & shiny. It’s Mugen and it looks cool.  Enough said.  I don’t expect it to do anything with respect to chassis rigidity. At least that would be measurable

Skunk2

Again... something else I did not think I would mod.  But, I discovered that Skunk2 Racing has clearance pricing on their 07-08 Honda Fit kit (#682-05-0200). Formerly $57.74, now $14.39. No brainer, even with the approximately $19. to get it shipped to my door from California. Ordered online on June 6, received in my mailbox June 11. For real.

As seen in the second picture, the kit consists of 4 longer bolts, 4 washers, 4 metal shift base bushings, the shifter extension and 6 set screws (3 extra).

I installed it Saturday, June 15, 2013. The instructions were fairly easy.. online help on Fitfreak.net helped clarify things and provided better pictures. Installation itself is easy and straightforward.  It’s the disassembly that was a bit tricky, in particular the removal of the plastic bushing.

Took it for a quick test drive and the shift feeling has noticeably improved. Short & crisp. Very nice feel. Shift lever is higher about 0.5”, which I also like. Totally worth the $35. I paid in total. Highly recommended, especially considering the price. It’s now one of my favorite mods!
