Home Renovations...

This website documents the renovations we’ve undertaken to our 1940 bungalow.

At the start of 2005, we decided we were going to take the plunge and try to find a “single family” residence.  Specifically a detached house.  During the summer of 2005, we sold our townhouse and bought the house pictured above.  It was a 1700 square foot bungalow with only 2 bedrooms and one bath plus a mostly unfinished basement... We knew we had our work cut out for us but we were confident we could make it our own, our “home”.  We did our primary renovations to the entire upper floor before moving in.

My ex-wife & I did the renovation design ourselves.  Together, we had a fairly clear picture of what we were looking for.  We did the contracting for things like the kitchen cabinets & counters and the floor refinishing.  For the building, electrical & plumbing components of the project, we hired a contractor we met thru friends that had their house completely extended & renovated.

This was our first experience with renovating and we learned a lot.  For the most part, we’re quite satisfied with how it’s turned out so far.  But we’re not done yet.

Next project... the outside.

The house was sold 1-Mar-11.  Closing 23-Mar-11.  Possession 25-Mar-11.

My last day in the house was 20-Mar-11.  I was alone clearing and cleaning...
